Orca agate can also have beautiful colors in its banding. It is a fairly recent find out of Madagascar. Orca agate is formed when silica-rich groundwater seeps into cavities in volcanic rock. Over time, the silica crystallizes and forms agate. The blue color of orca agate is due to the presence of trace amounts of minerals The banding patterns are caused by variations in the concentration of these minerals.
